Function
3E has developed its own wind and solar resource modelling solutions that are used in both the development and operational stages of a solar or wind project.
We are now looking for a motivated intern to support the innovation team in improving the validation framework of those wind and solar resource data.
This will be first achieved by adding available solar and/or wind measurements to our internal database and standardize them for a proper usage in the validation framework. The next stage of improvement will be the implementation of a smart site classification in order to validate the wind and solar resource data according to the complexity of the site.
You will be part of 3E’s innovation team and will have full support and guidance from experienced researchers. The main tasks will include:
- Adding publicly available research measurements with a focus on complex sites to internal validation sites database
- Quantifying the site complexity in terms of roughness and orography
- Linking the model errors with the site complexity in a smart site classification framework
- Supporting the development of the validation framework in Python (data processing, metrics calculation, data visualisation & reporting, etc.)
- Collaborating with leading research institutes in impactful national & European projects
- Contributing to the development of innovative wind resource modelling solutions
