The Department for Business & Trade (DBT) is looking for an intern to join our dynamic team at the British Embassy in Bucharest.
Our DBT team helps UK businesses export and grow into the Romanian market and assists overseas companies locate and grow in the UK.
Main purpose of job:
To provide support for the DBT team, mainly on logistics support for the coming events, market research, translations, drafting and update various data bases.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Conduct research on trade policies, market trends and industry developments to support team’s objectives;
- Analyze market data and compile reports on export/import statistics and market opportunitities to assist in decision-making process;
- Draft official correspondance, email enquiries and meeting notes for internal and external stakeholders;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date record of activities, meetings and events including Datahub entries;
- Support in the coordination and logistics of trade events and assist in liaising with event organizers, exhibitors and participants;
- Help in preparing promotional materials, presentations and briefing documents for trade events and conferences;
- Provide general support assistance to UK businesses, trade organizations and other relevant stakeholders;
- Accelerating UK & RO involvement in priority campaigns for Clean Growth & Technology;
- Provide general administrative support to the Trade Department including scheduling meetings, managing calendars and organizing travel arrangements;
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the LM or department staff;
- Some overseas travel may be required.
- The DBT team is looking to recruit a determined, self-sufficient, enterprising and result-oriented individual who is driven by an interest in business, economic and trade policy.
- Fluency in English (C level) both oral and written.
- Fluency in Romanian (Native speaker) C2 level;
- The completion of a bachelor university degree (This is an essential requirement. The candidate needs to be able to provide evidence in the form of the original licentia).
- Availability for full-time employment from September 2023 to September 2024;
- Good drafting, and organisational skills;
- IT literacy;
- Flexibility to sometimes work out of office hours (compensated by time off in lieu);
- An interest to develop and seek opportunities by completing tailored training via our Diplomatic Academy.
It is desirable that applicants are current Master’s candidates or have recently earned a Master’s degree preferably in Economics, Legal, Public Relations, Political Sciences, International Affairs, but not exclusive of other degrees;
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months of 35 hours net per week. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.
The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.
Monthly salary is 3000 RON gross.
An individual personal development plan will be agreed with the successful candidate, which may include training outside Romania. The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of 30 working days.
All applicants should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in Romania. The British Embassy does not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permit. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to terms and conditions service according to Romanian employment law.
