The Role
The Governance Manager will have oversight and work collaboratively with Sustainment and Project Managers within System Program Offices. They will predominately oversee sustainment of Maritime Sustainment Divisions (MSD) Products during the In-Service phase, however will be required to provide support and governance over MSD Projects. This role is a critical in delivering governance controls to Head of Maritime Sustainment (HMS) in support of his commitment to provide long-term operational effectiveness, reliability and efficiency of Navy assets. The successful applicant would need to have an understanding of various aspects of maintenance, logistics and support within Maritime. This role is required to maintain open communication with senior management and other relevant parties in identifying and reporting strategic opportunities, inherent issues, risks and constraints affecting effective and efficient sustainment outcomes.
About our Team
The Maritime Sustainment Division has a waterfront and office-based presence in Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Darwin, and Cairns, with the Office of Head of Maritime Sustainment working based in both Canberra and Sydney. MSD sustains in excess of $15 billion in maritime assets, with an annual budget of $1.6 billion. The workforce is made up of approximately 500 APS and ADF members, combined with a partnered contract workforce of 1600 based around Navy’s major ports. This position will report to the Chief of Staff and work within a small team in the Office of Head Maritime Systems. The team consists of Australian Public Service and Australian Defence Force professionals responsible for supporting the Division Head in the discharge of their duties through superior levels of administrative and secretariat support.
